[[Image:MelodiousWarbler.JPG]] '''Common Name:''' Melodious Warbler<br> '''Scientific Name:''' Hippolais polyglotta '''Size:''' 4.7-5.3 inches (12-13.5 cm); '''Wingspan:''' 7.5-9.1 inches (19-23 cm) '''Habitat:''' Europe; It breeds in southwest Europe and northwest Africa. It is migratory, wintering in sub-Saharan Africa. It is found in open deciduous woodland with bushes and also parks and gardens, often near water. '''Status:''' Least Concern. '''Global population:''' 3,190,000-12,000,000 individuals. The population is suspected to be increasing owing to a northerly and easterly range expansion, although in Europe, trends since 1989 have been stable. '''Diet:''' Melodious warblers eat mostly insects, although they will also eat berries in the summer. '''Nesting:''' Sexes are alike. Melodious warblers resemble the Icterine Warbler, but are browner on their upper parts and have plainer secondary wing feathers. They have greyish green to brown upper parts and pale yellow under parts. Its first choice for constructing its nest is between the branches of the Elderberry. The nest consists of skillfully woven grass, spiders’ webs and beard lichen, which is covered with birch bark scales and lichen. They are lined with hair, root fibers and thin grass stalks. There are usually 3–5 eggs laid in the deep bowl-shaped nest. '''Cool Facts:''' The song is a pleasant babbling.
